Broadwater smash

There was fatal crash at the intersection of Broadwater and Evans Head Roads on Wednesday (January 25) around 10am when a Land Rover 4WD ran into a tree. A 66-year-old woman, who was the front seat passenger, died at the scene. The 37-year-old male driver was taken to Ballina Hospital and then transferred to Lismore Base Hospital. Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact Crime Stoppers. 

Bottleshop theft

On Tuesday night (January 31) two men stole bottles of alcohol from the IGA Express Liquor store on Rous Road in Goonellabah. They entered the store around 8.35pm and one of the men became involved in an altercation with an employee. Police are reviewing CCTV footage. One man was about 18 years of age, the other 13-16 years old. If anyone can help police with their enquiries phone Crime Stoppers.  

Money stolen from Building Society

A 30-year-old Tabulam man has been arrested for breaking into the Greater Building Society in Casino in the early hours of Friday (January 27) and stealing money. He allegedly smashed through the front doors and stole plastic bags containing money. Casino police quickly identified a suspect and obtained a search warrant for a South Casino address. The man was arrested and charged with 'break, enter and steal' and possession of a small amount of a prohibited drug.
