Brisbane's Airport Link tunnel opens

THE Airport Link tunnel in Brisbane is finally open to motorists.

The $4.8 billion project, which links the airport and northern suburbs with the city, welcomed its first motorists just before midnight on Tuesday following a succession of delays.

Motorists will be able to use the 6.7 km road toll-free for the first three months and at a discounted rate after that.
BrisConnections estimated 135,000 vehicles would use the new tunnel on its first day.
