Breast cancer recovery program

Women who have suffered breast cancer surgery are being urged by The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) to register for Encore, a free gentle exercise program, taking place in Lismore, Byron Bay and Murwillumbah.

Kate Guthrey, YWCA NSW Encore Coordinator says the program improves "… movement, flexibility and strength after breast cancer surgery. It helps to reduce the potential risk of lymphoedema and can assist in its management."

She's backed up by doctors at the Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK, who've stated; 'Cancer patients would be shocked if they knew just how much of a benefit physical activity could be for recovery and long term health.'

Encore runs in Lismore from October 15 to December 3 and because medical clearance is required, it's important to register as soon as possible in order to secure a place. Register by calling 02 9285 6264 (Sydney) or 1800 305 150 or emailing
