Breaking up is hard to do

Going through a relationship break up is obviously tough for those involved, but if the couple have children, it can be particularly traumatic for them.

Interrelate have just published three books which help kids understand that it’s not their fault and that they are not the only ones going through it.

One book is called 400 + Questions Kids Have About Relationships, a useful tool for parents to talk about the hard issues in a fun and informative way. The Listeners Gets Two Homes is about the child’s experience of family separation and the feelings that are often evoked in young children, and Bidges Mob is about an Aboriginal family’s experience of separation with beautiful illustrations.

All three books are available from the Family Relationship Centre in Market St (phone 6622 7003) or at Noah’s Ark bookshop in Lismore.

Money raised will be used for Interrelate’s sex education program in schools.
