Breakers coach rates rookie as real danger man

BASKETBALL: New Zealand Breakers coach Dean Vickerman has identified Wollongong rookie Rotnei Clarke as the danger man in tonight's round 15 NBL clash in Auckland.

GETTY

In his first professional campaign after an impressive US college career, Clarke (pictured) has averaged 21.1 points per game this season (third in the league), helped by 51 three-pointers (also third best).

"Clarke causes troubles," Vickerman told the NBL's official website.

"His ability to finish in the lane over seven-footers, make flips with his left and right hands, is outstanding."

The Breakers (6-11) are in seventh place and will need to string some wins together to have a shot at defending their title. The Hawks (6-10) are sixth and also need to launch a win streak to make the play-offs.

Round 15 (home teams first): Tonight: Breakers v Hawks, Fri: Crocs v Taipans, Wildcats v Tigers; Sun: Kings v 36ers, Hawks v Tigers.
