Breakers big man aims to get team winning

WHILE his teammates attempt to breathe new life into their season in Auckland tonight, Alex Pledger would be content to merely breathe without discomfort during the NBL showdown with Perth.

The Breakers big man (pictured) has suffered respiratory problems for the past few weeks, a residual effect of the fall he took late in the last-second loss against Adelaide in November.

"After a little while going, it just gets a little tight and my breathing gets a little restricted," he said.

"But it's loosening up pretty well and I've felt a lot better in practice this week."

The Breakers (4-8) are sixth on the ladder, while the Wildcats (12-1) are three games clear on top.

Cairns hosts Townsville in tonight's other match to start round 10. Tomorrow Sydney hosts Wollongong, while Townsville is at home to take on Melbourne. Adelaide is at home to Cairns in the only game on Sunday.
