ONE Direction were mobbed upon their return to the UK.

The boy band received a warm welcome from hysterical fans as they touched down at London's Heathrow airport on Monday (04.11.13) after completing their mammoth Take Me Home 2013 tour.

The hardworking lads looked delighted to be returning home to their families in the aftermath of their sell-out tour, which kicked off in London in February, followed by 60 more dates in Europe, 41 in North America, 25 in Australia and two gigs in Asia.

Irish band member Niall Horan took to Twitter to write: "I've had an amazing year! Thank you all soo much ! never forget this tour ! #TMHworldtour2013

"Feels like years ago we started on that freezing cold night in February at the O2 in London!

"134 shows !And I wasn't bored for one show because we have the best fans on the planet, and we do all this for u,coz u gave all of this t us (sic)".

Fellow 1D heartthrob Liam Payne joined in, posting: "Wowweee tour finished , thank you to everyone who made it brilliantttt!"

The 'Story Of My Life' hitmakers - who also include Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson - were happy to sign autographs and stop for photos with fans after their exhausting 12-hour flight home.
