Boxers make olympic debut

TWO young Aussie boxers will be determined to make a fist of their Olympic debuts today.

Queenslander Jesse Ross will pull no punches in the middleweight (69-75kg) round of 32, while Victorian Ibrahim Balla will give it his best shot in the bantamweight (51-56kg) division.

The first bouts start at 10.30pm (AEST).Two more Aussies will step into the ring on Sunday for their first round contests.

Luke Jackson, the Australian boxing team captain from the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, will contest the lightweight division (10.30pm AEST), while 22-year-old Cameron Hammond from Moree will fight in the welterweight division at midnight (AEST).
