THE body of a woman believed to be missing mother Jane Sheahan was found yesterday near a bridge in Roma.
Ms Sheahan went missing on Friday afternoon after driving her car into a flooded road.
Her seven-year-old son was saved by bystanders, but Ms Sheahan was swept away before she could be rescued.
Ms Sheahan, whose maiden name was Simon, was originally from Toowoomba and worked as a nurse for Blue Care in Roma.
Her family owns Simon National Carriers.
Meanwhile, mandatory evacuations were declared for St George yesterday as it braced for a record flood to hit the town.
Owner of the Cobb & Co Hotel Peter Tzvetkoff said the residents were not given a choice.
"It's not something we want to do, to pack up and leave our homes, but we have no choice," he said. "There's a lot of uncertainty here at the moment."
Authorities made the decision based on information from the Bureau of Meteorology, which estimated the Balonne River would peak anywhere between 14 and 15 metres.
The 2010 flood peaked at 13.5 metres.
