Blues supporter repaints house after Origin loss

WHEN Brighton resident Daryl Hillard painted his house blue for State of Origin it attracted footy players, television shows, radio, newspapers and millions of views on social media.

Unfortunately for the Blues supporter, New South Wales lost the series and he has now had his house repainted back to its original colours.

"Game one I thought, you beaut, over the moon," Mr Hillard said.

"Game two at half time I thought it was ours, but game three I knew it would be tough to beat Queensland on home soil.

"I'll be here supporting them next year; let's see if they can put up a better effort."

His house is now yellow again, except for one bit of cockroach defiance.

"The numbers on the letter box are still blue, it's the only bit that's left," he said.

The letter box was the only thing that remained maroon when the house was painted - for Mr Hillard's daughter who supports the Maroons.

The spectacle of the blue house brought the street together, with neighbours dressing up in their maroon gear for photos at the house.

Mr Hillard said Sportsbet.com.au painted his home blue as part of State of Origin promotions.

"I was on New Zealand radio, Channel Nine news, Sunrise, 4BC, 97.3 breakfast and afternoon show," he said.

"After the first week of it being blue it had 1.4 million hits (online).

"It hasn't been painted for 12.5 years, so it was a good opportunity."
