Bindi Irwin hits the books

GETTING a handle on the family business can be tough - especially when that business is a world-renowned tourist attraction.

Bindi Irwin will begin the second year of her Certificate III in Business at Sunshine Coast TAFE this month.

The 15-year-old Wildlife Warrior said her studies would help as she became more involved with the business side of Australia Zoo.

"I'm trying to get a good grasp on the business, because in a couple of years I'll be 18 and it'll be a bigger responsibility,'' she said.

"The entire course is practically everything I'm doing day to day, working at Australia Zoo.''

Bindi recommended other young people consider TAFE to advance their studies.

"It's such a wonderful way of following your dreams and passions and making them come to life," she said.

TAFE director Leeza Boyce said Bindi was an excellent role model for other high school students looking to add practical, real-world skills to their studies.
