LISMORE speedway promoter David Lander has promised the 2013-2014 season will be the best yet.

And he could be right, with 16 events including two rounds of the World Midget Car Championship.

There will also be six events in a 20-day period during the school holidays in January.

Lucas Oil Lismore Speedway held its season launch at the Lismore Workers Club on Tuesday.

"With the number of events and drivers coming it has to be the best yet," Lander said.

"We've taken the midget cars on in February and it's shaping up to be an enormous weekend of racing.

"We're the only track in New South Wales running the World Series (sprintcars), which is quite amazing.

"It's something to hang our hat on and I hope to get it again next year.

"People are going to come from Sydney for this because they missed out on it."

Lander believes the speedway is some of the best family entertainment available in Lismore.

"I think we're still one of the best kept secrets," he said.

"We bring people to town from all over the place.

"They might not all stay the night but I bet they all buy petrol or food or something along the way."
