Big seas warning for boaties

BOATIES have been warned of dangerous surf conditions for the area between Coffs Harbour and Ulladulla today.

Roads and Maritime Services said dangerous surf conditions were forecast and advised skippers to be on high alert and to check the conditions before considering crossing a coastal bar or heading offshore.

A spokesman said dangerous surf conditions could translate easily into dangerous conditions for rock fishing and for vessels crossing coastal bars.

"Every skipper is responsible for the safety of their vessel and all on board, and Roads and Maritime Services advises skippers to: check the official weather before and during boating; ensure the boat and its equipment is suitable for the conditions; log  on/ off with a marine rescue radio base for every trip offshore; and wear a lifejacket."

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
