Big representation in state teams for national titles

SEVERAL FNC junior hockey aces are celebrating after earning state selection and the chance to test their skills against national opposition.

Bradley Hughes, Lincoln Appleton, Tom Brown, Tyler Arundell and Jade Gray have earned places in the New South Wales under-18 and under-15 squads for the forthcoming national championships.

Hughes has been included for April's competition in Canberra.

The East Lismore player has established a reputation as a promising talent with some fine displays for his club.

Meanwhile, the region has a healthy contingent in the under-15 boys teams for its competition.

Appleton, Brown and Arundell will head to the Perth tournament, also in April.

No other regional association outside metropolitan Sydney has as many juniors in the squad.

Meanwhile, Gray has made the girls squad for the nine-day trip to Hobart in April.

All three competitions will feature matches between the country's state and territory sides and include the country's best young hockey players.

In more good news for the region, Bailey Powell has been included in the NSW Blues' under-18 boys squad.

The party acts a back-up to the main squad and will travel to the competition.

Cori Hardy and Ashlee Danvers have earned spots in the under-18 girls Blues.

Tiana Clark is in the under-15 second string group, with Luca Brown in the equivalent boys team.

The players earned their spots after impressing at recent trials.
