Big day for bargains

IT'S that time of year when the smart shoppers come out to play and participate with full steam in the notorious Boxing Day sales.

While many of the shops in the Lismore CBD will take a few days off to celebrate Christmas, at least one boutique in Molesworth St will be opening its doors for business today.

Sam Richani, manager of The Enchanted Room, Lismore, said he will be there with a smile today, ready to serve those who come into his clothing store.

"Boxing Day is the busiest day of the year," Mr Richani said.

"Everyone gets money or gets gift certificates for Christmas," he said, which happily and purposefully drives them to the Boxing Day sales.

"We've had a lot of gift vouchers this year."

He said it's also a great day for family bonding, with families heading out to lunch or other activities, maybe dropping into the stores for a spot of shopping while they are at it.

Mr Richani said he doesn't mind working on Boxing Day at all.

In fact, "I love working every single day of the year," no matter what the occasion, he said.

The Enchanted Room opened in Lismore a few months ago.

Meanwhile, many potential shoppers will be taking to the internet for their Boxing Day bargains, searching websites like eBay or official websites of retailers that now offer online purchasing, such as Target, who began their celebratory sales online at 12.01am yesterday.

Lismore Shopping Square, Ballina Fair Shopping Centre and many other individual businesses will also be open today.
