Thistles hungry for win but Ballina has big chance at home

AFTER a slow start to the season Lismore Thistles will be hungry for a win when they travel to Ballina to take on the Seahorses at Saunders Park in Far North Coast premier league soccer tonight.

The Blues have just one win to show from their first four games and their unconvincing start has been compounded by a resurfacing of discipline issues.

Wide defenders Jeremy Sullivan and Zac Wilson will both be missing through suspension tonight, after send offs in each of the Blues' last two games.

Currently in seventh place, Thistles cannot afford another loss, but the signs were positive in their 10-man second half fightback to secure a draw with Workers in their last start.

Ballina suffered a 4-1 loss to Rovers in their last outing and are still winless, but will have several players returning to boost their line-up.

Damien Hart and Ben Lewis will add to their attacking options, while regular keeper Lachlan Brenton is also back.

"Being at home on a Tuesday night will help us and we'll have a bit more strikepower, so we're definitely going out there for an upset win," Ballina coach Chris Layland said.

Kick off is 8pm.
