Big band, big night

This Saturday, November 7, the Northern Rivers Conservatorium Arts Centre (or the Con as we call it) will present its annual Community Studies Gala Concert at the Lismore Workers Club.

This is a concert where the performers are all students who have taken up studies at the Con to pursue their love of music and the performing arts. And it’s a show overflowing with love. And diversity – hip hop dancers, choir, string ensembles, youth theatre, vocal, woodwind and even the early childhood music participants. (Aw, cute.)

But wait, there’s more. The second half of the concert will feature the Big Band at the End of the Universe (pictured) with its repertoire of classic Count Basie and Duke Ellington sounds. (And the sound of a big band live is thrilling, to say the least. And loud...)

Tickets are $10/8/5 or $20 (family).

For more info phone the Con on 6621 2266. Or email admin@nrcac.edu.au.

The concert starts at 2pm; doors open at 1.30pm.
