HERVEY Bay wedding celebrant Cheryl Kidd has been named in the top 10 celebrants in the nation in the Designer of Dreams competition, which is held annually by the Australian Bridal Industry Association.

Top five will be named on February 11 and then the top two celebrants will attend a gala event in Sydney on Valentine's Day where the overall winner will be named.

Along with Cheryl, the Waterfront Restaurant in Urangan was also named in the top 10 in the Restaurant Reception category.

Last month Cheryl celebrated when the top 30 celebrants were named out of the 13,000 celebrants registered in Australia.

Cheryl said she took a casual approach to her job but that changed on the day, when her focus was very much on the special couple.

Cheryl said she was thrilled and excited to be named in the top 10.

"I just had a smile on my face - I couldn't stop smiling," she said of her reaction when she found out.

Cheryl said she wasn't worried if she made the next stage - making the top 10 was reason enough to celebrate.

She said in spite of that she was still feeling quite nervous.
