Barra will be biting for NT's million-dollar fishing comp

TOURISM Northern Territory has launched a million-dollar fishing competition.

Anglers will be lured by the prospect of catching a barramundi tagged with a $1 million prize on its head.

Another 75 barramundi will be tagged with $10,000 prizes.

The competition will run from October 1 this year to February 29 next year, and is valid only for those who register for the event at www.milliondollarfish.com.au before August 31.

The 76 barramundi will be released in the Northern Territory's prime fishing areas.

The Territory's most famous fishing area, Kakadu, is considered by some to be the home of the barra.
