Bargains at McLeans Ridges sale
McLeans Ridges residents have been busy clearing out their cupboards and backyard sheds for this Sunday’s community garage sale at the McLeans Ridges Hall.
Resident Gail Wergs said the community is trying to raise money for Friends of the Koala, with the ultimate aim being to help establish a koala hospital at the FOK headquarters in East Lismore. At present injured koalas are sent o Beerwah or Currumbin for specialised treatment.
“We desperately need to upgrade the existing facilities to cater for the increase in koalas coming into care,” FOK president Lorraine Vass said. “We’re looking at a staged development and the priority is to extend and redevelop the outdoor runs for koalas that are recovering. We also would like to see an education centre and in the longer term we’d like to have a clinic so we can deliver specialised wildlife veterinary service and care in the Northern Rivers.”
The McLeans Ridges community garage sale will run from 10am to 4pm this Sunday, November 22. There will be pre-loved clothes, toys, books, baby goods, household items and much more. Baked goods, plants and refreshments including Caddies coffee will be on sale, and there’s also a raffle with prizes including dinner at the new 561 Alphadale restaurant.
Friends of the Koala volunteers will also be on hand with information about koalas and there will also be koala food trees to purchase.
The McLeans Ridges Hall is on the corner of McLeans Ridges Rd and Cowlong Rd. Simply drive to Alphadale crossroads, turn left and drive for about 3km.
