Bad boy Dayle Garrett looks like getting second chance

OVERLOOKED last year after a string of off-field issues, exciting West Australian youngster Dayle Garlett is expected to be given a lifeline by Hawthorn when the 2013 national draft is held on the Gold Coast on Thursday night.

Touted as a top10 selection last year, the cousin of Carlton small forward Jeff Garlett was overlooked after being kicked out of the elite AIS-AFL Academy, and missing several WAFL games through internal club suspensions. Social media photos of him drinking and smoking did further harm to his reputation.

The 19-year-old, who kicked 48 goals in 19 games for Swan Districts this season, has reportedly kept in contact with Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson (pictured). Garlett has also attracted the interest of Essendon and North Melbourne, but Hawthorn could choose him with its first selection - pick 24 - in a bid to inject more pace into its aging midfield.

Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
