Composer to hold workshop

MICHAEL Askill, an award-winning composer for film and one-time principal percussionist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, is presenting a workshop at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium next Wednesday, September 5.

Founder and artistic director of Australia's longest established contemporary music ensemble, Synergy Percussion, Michael will share some of his ideas about music and approaches to performance, composition and collaboration.

The second part of the workshop will feature instruments from Michael's private collection of gongs and singing bowls gathered on recent travels to China and the Himalayas.

Admission is free from 1pm. For enquiries email andy.downer@nrcac.edu.au.
