Australia's strongest man?

Who will be Australia’s Strongest Man? This weekend on Saturday, June 5, all will be revealed as ten athletes from all over Australia arrive in Lismore to compete for the official title. Amongst the competitors will be strongman Derek ‘Thunder’ Boyer, from the TV show The Gladiators. Contestants will square off at 11am in Keen Street and then take turns in attempting to lift lots of heavy things, as well as pull a gigantic 22-tonne truck and trailer over a distance of 25 metres.

The Truck Pull and Australia’s Strongest Man Contest are the major attractions in the 2010 Lismore Festival of Fitness. At Oakes Oval from 12-5pm there will be entertainment including the Strongman events, karate displays, dancers, music and food. Entry to the festival costs $10 for adults, with free admission for children under 12 years of age who are accompanied by an adult. All profits will go to the Lismore Homeless Shelter and Soup Kitchen.
