Artist seeks real human bones

An artist wants human bones... real human bones.
An artist wants human bones... real human bones.

A TOOWOOMBA-based artist has gone on to an online auction site seeking "real" human bones for an art project.

The item was listed on Gumtree yesterday.

The person who wants the bones is willing to pay $5000.

The request reads: "I'm looking for real human bones, anything at all, for a community arts project."

The listing is certain to prove controversial, but is not the first time an artist has used such a medium with which to create an artwork.

Famous artists Andrew Krasnow, Gunther Von Hagens, Linda Jones and Kai-hung Fung all used the human body in one form to create art.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
