Art Club exhibition at the Winsome
The Lismore Art Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and they will be having an exhibition at the beautiful old Winsome Hotel, which was converted into an accommodation centre for the area’s homeless last year.
About 30 works of art from 20 artists will be on display, with 20% of sales going to the Lismore Soup Kitchen for their ongoing running costs.
Soup Kitchen president Mieke Bell said the exhibition was also a chance to welcome the community back into the Winsome.
“This building was much loved by community and we will be doing events so people can come back and enjoy the ambience of the Winsome,” Mieke said. “I hope this will be the first of many events inviting the community back into the building.”
Opening night is Friday, May 14, from 6.30pm with wine, cheese and live music. Entry is $5 on the night. The exhibition will run over that weekend with entry by donation and refreshments available.
The Lismore Art Club meets on the third Saturday of every month for a tutorial with a guest artist and other events and outings throughout the year. Art Club president Meg Nielsen said it was “a wonderfully supportive group” of all skill levels. For more information about the group contact lismoreartclub@
