Anfield stadium will be expanded to fit 60,000 football fans

LIVERPOOL'S famous Anfield stadium will be expanded to cater for 60,000 spectators at a cost of almost $200million.

The club's owner, the US-based Fenway Sports Group, had been considering building a completely new stadium, but said Anfield was the "spiritual home" of the club and it would be staying put.

The ground presently holds 45,276 people.
