The Automatic Androids went into overdrive last Sunday and won the Ballina Battle of the Bands.

And the winner is...

Six young local bands battled it out for prizes and the kudos at last Sunday’s Battle of the Bands at Missingham Park in Ballina. And what a rockin’ way to launch into Youth Week.

The Tripps, Primary Colours, Gruesome Crayon Assassination, Mammoth, Activity Pack, and The Automatic Androids traded talent, riffs and songwriting skills under the hilarious guidance of the afternoon’s MC, Jaelen.

“It was fantastic to see the shire’s best young musical talent showcased at this event,” Ballina Shire Council’s community development officer Skye McNamara said. “Many thanks also go to the local community organisations and businesses that helped make this day a success.”

First prize was taken out by four-piece The Automatic Androids, who got the crowd up and raging. The band scored studio and recording time at the SAE studios in Byron.

The Ballina Battle of the Bands competition is a community event organised by the Ballina-Byron Family Centre, Ballina District Community Services Association, Ballina Shire Council, Centrelink Ballina, NORTEC, Reconnect Ballina and the Richmond Tweed-Regional Library.

Congratulations lads – rock on!
