An uplifting operation

If you're looking for a place to deposit your old bras, go to any branch of the Summerland Credit Union or the Lismore campus of Southern Cross University.

Operation Uplift is a project of the Rotary Club of Manly Sunrise that sends bras to the Pacific Islands and Maggie Shanahan and Toni Ledgerwood are helping out.

“In places like Papua New Guinea and Tonga many of the women have no bras and the climate is very cruel so they end up with infections and abscesses,” Maggie said. “Every woman in Australia has a pile of unused bras at the bottom of a drawer.”

New or used, big or small, wired or unwired and maternity bras are all appreciated and will be accepted until Friday, October 2.

At SCU contact Toni or Fiona FLDS, Level 1 R Block.
