Alleged nursing home arsonist to face trial for murder

THE man accused of starting the fire that killed 10 people inside a Sydney nursing home will face trial for murder after his offer to plead guilty to manslaughter was rejected.

Roger Kingsley Dean, a nurse at the Quakers Hill nursing home he allegedly set alight on November 18, appeared in Central Local Court on Thursday via video link.

He faces 10 murder charges after the DPP rejected his manslaughter offer.
