ALL Whites striker Chris Wood is committed to making the whirlwind trip home for the international friendly against Jamaica next month.

The match falls in a one day FIFA window and, while yet to be fully confirmed, will be played in Auckland.

Wood's based in England with his Championship side Bristol City and will have to fly home before going straight back for League matches.

He says he hopes to be available as it'll be a tough match for them and a good marker for where the team is at.

Wood hopes approval to play the fixture will be a mere formality, with Bristol obliged to release him.

He says flying around the world to play is one of the realities of his job.

Wood says it's difficult to travel and have a training session before playing and then returning to do the same, but it's part and parcel of playing professional football.
