A tale of two kids

Rachel Ward's directorial debut film is Beautiful Kate. And this film will have a special screening at Ballina Cinemas next Thursday, November 5, at 7pm, as a fundraiser for Kids in Community.

Adapted from Newtown Thornberg's novel of the same name, Beautiful Kate is a powerful and often painful journey through a forbidding Australian landscape.

It is the story of Ned Kendall (Ben Mendelssohn), his relationship as a teenager with his twin sister Kate (Sophie Lowe), and the emotional aftermath of a series of tragic and confronting events that occurred when he was 16.

Tickets are $12 from Southern Cross Credit Union offices in Ballina, Byron, Lismore and Lennox. (Seating is limited so get your tickets early.)

Kids in Community is a non-profit organisation based locally. It raises awareness of the positive role young people play in our local communities.
