A special voice in Lismore

Jules Kelly of Jazz In The Countryside is starting her 16th year of Tuesday night Jazz, Blues & Beyond gigs in Lismore.

(Well done, Jules. We think we have a medal here somewhere for you...)

As she’s close with the Australian jazz circuit she has contact with many interstate jazz outfits whom she books on a regular basis for her Lismore gigs. (She has even had calls from Switzerland and New York bands in the past.)

This year’s season starts with a blast – Jim Kelly’s Healin’ Feeling Band will do their funky thing with a special guest from Sydney, singer Barry Leef.

Barry is the number one session singer in Sydney and was frontman in the Supermarket Band (which included Jim Kelly). He hasn’t performed with Jim for around 25 years so it’s going to be special.

Barry coaches the Australian Idol kids and has performed with greats such as Frank Zappa, Tom Jones and Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter. It’ll be a big night of groove, R&B, funk, blues and soul at the Lismore City Bowling Club next Tuesday, March 2, from 8pm.

$8 gets you in.
