AN ARIA award-winning cappella group are teaming up with internationally acclaimed vocal percussionist Kai Kitamura to impart their craft onto music enthusiasts by hosting a workshop and performing in Lismore.

The collaboration between Kai and The Idea of North was born after the ensemble met him at a festival in South Korea in 2014 where their mutual passion for jazz ignited a long-term partnership.

Kai's talents to mimic the sounds of an entire drum kit coupled with The Idea of North's imaginative and creative jazz and pop arrangements make for delightful listening.

Established in 1993, The Idea of North was formed by four friends from the Canberra School of Music jazz department at the Australian National University.

The quartet won the ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album in 2010 with their collaborative release Feels Like Spring and again in 2013 for their album Smile.

  • At Lismore City Hall, 1 Bounty St, Lismore, this Saturday from 7pm
