A bloomin' marvellous show
With the summer looking like it’s going to be hot and dry, the Casino Garden Club believes it will be a real challenge for all gardeners competing in next year’s annual flower show. But they also know that the dedicated gardeners who enter will impress no matter how harsh the growing conditions.
Next year the Casino Flower Show and Fair, which is on March 6, moves to its new venue at the Casino Civic Hall as it has now outgrown the Presbyterian Hall. As always there will be plenty to see and listen to with new and larger displays, engaging slide shows, a quilt display, art and photography, market stalls, trade displays and Garden Club sale tables of plants, sweets and cakes.
Meanwhile Phil Dudman, the local garden guru, will compere a very busy day of guest speakers, pruning demonstrations and floral art demonstrations.
Anyone is welcome to compete in the Casino Flower Show. You can try your luck in the cut flowers, pot plants, orchids and floral art categories or why not show your artistic flair and pot up some herbs for the new competition category ‘Pot of Herbs’? Perhaps you can bring out the paintbrush or camera and capture a garden scene for the art and photography competition, or enter the fun novelty competition entitled ‘Recycle your old things into new things’.
So get potting, planting or painting, and mark March 6 on your calendar for this wonderful garden extravaganza. For information, phone Rae on 6662 2210 or Noelene on 6664 1216.
