Pianist Steve Russell will combine with New Zealand flugelhorn player Murray Tanner for a night of their favourite jazz standards at the Bang Thai In Bangalow this Friday, February 5, from 7pm.
North Coast groove band The Ninth Chapter returns to The Rails this Sunday, February 7, promoting their debut long-player Zanthippe. Combining roots music with solid funk undertones the band has supported True Live and Dallas Frasca. The gig starts at 6.30pm.
The Northern Rivers Big Band will perform its first concert for the year at the Ballina RSL Club this Sunday, February 7. There’ll be 18 musicians, including two vocalists, Dean Doyle and Jim Fairfull. This is big band music in the style of Glen Miller, Benny Goodman and that crew. The concert starts at 2pm; entry is $10.
Local trio Wordplay plays good ol’ rock ‘n roll. Like it’s supposed to be played.
