BEFORE the gates to Sydney's newest theme park had opened at the weekend, more than 500 people had lined up to get a first look at the NSW version of the popular water wonderland Wet 'n' Wild.
By Sunday, thousands more had travelled to the western suburb of Prospect to check out the 40 slides and attractions including the world's tallest double Sky Coaster and man made beach.
Other than the iconic, but small, Luna Park, Sydney has been without a theme park since Wonderland was closed more than a decade ago.
NSW Tourism Minister George Souris said the park would create up to 300, much needed, permanent jobs in the western suburbs, just in time for summer.
The park is open daily from 10am to 11pm.
