NSW drug bust and Tasmanian gun find believed to be linked

GUNS discovered at a Tasmanian airport and a drug lab bust in NSW are believed to be linked to an underworld supply chain operating between the two states.

Four handguns, a silencer and more than $150,000 cash were allegedly found stashed in checked baggage at Launceston Airport on Thursday.

Two men, aged 35 and 36, were arrested and charged.

Further search warrants in Tasmania allegedly uncovered three more guns and a large amount of the drug "ice".

Six more people were arrested.

Middle Eastern Crime detectives then raided a home at Beverley Hills in Sydney's south where they allegedly found a clandestine laboratory, methamphetamine, a cutting agent and more that $2600 in cash.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with drug supply.

Investigations are continuing.
