JONATHON Stenberg will front a sentencing hearing on Friday over the decapitation murder of Broadwater man Edward "Ned" Kelly.

The former defence force engineer sparked a massive man hunt when police discovered Mr Kelly's headless body at his home in June last year.

He was eventually arrested in the Northern Territory and extradited back to NSW.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty in the NSW Supreme Court last month.

The hearing will begin in Sydney at 10am.
