Erika Heynatz is loving her black Audi A3 beauty
TALENTED model, actress and singer Erika Heynatz likes to literally run rings around traffic.
What was your first car?
A white Mazda 323, 1981 model. It was a thrill to have that taste of independence. I pimped it out as best I could with steering wheel and seat covers. But it had so many lemon moments. I got a real taste of the costs of running a vehicle! And it eventually died a quiet death on the side of the road. It simply gave up.
What are you driving now, and what do you love and hate about it?
A black Audi A3 - love everything about it. My favourite car ever. Perfect size, shape and finishes. Super reliable and chic.
What car did your family have while you were growing up?
Datsun station wagon, medium grey. We called it the Grey Ghost because it was such an old crusty rust bucket.
I remember how we loved going to the drive-in in that car. It had red velour seat covers. I loved them. So much so that when they were ready to be replaced we used them for dress ups - a little like red capes.
What is your greatest frustration on the road?
People who don't let you in on merging lanes. Simple consideration escapes some people.
Or those who don't give the thank you or acknowledgement wave.
That can make brighten a day so easily and create similar behaviour in other drivers and general behaviour in people for the rest of the day.
Do you have any preferred driving music?
I am always doing singing practise in the car as I have an hour drive to and from work.
I learn my music and harmonies for shows in that time.
I make mix tapes, but love a bit of guilty pleasure easy listening music, when else can you get away with losing yourself completely to cheesy hits?
If you were to pick anyone in the world to go on a road trip, who would it be?
My husband is a pretty unbeatable partner in crime on road trips. Well measured breaks, good snacks, burgers that never happened, great tunes, good stories and an exciting future of many an unknown destination.
What is your dream car?
Whatever the vintage sports car Daniel Craig was driving in the last James Bond film (Aston Martin DB5).
I'd also like to be chauffeured around by him in that car if that's part of the bargain?
