Imagine leading by example...

Why should our children be responsible? For their safety and for the safety of others we all understand that. Children learn by copying their parents. So maybe it is time for the adults in our society to start acting in a mature and wise way, setting examples for the young to follow.

Imagine if we imposed re-licensing on all adult drivers (say every five to 10 years) to improve our driving standards. Imagine if we had zero alcohol and drug (prescription and all non prescription) levels for all drivers starting with adults.

If the adults in our society stood up and demanded politicians got sacked when they lied to us (the Australian National Library has a web archive, pandora, that contains a list of 67 lies John Howard and his Ministers have told us in recent years). If the adults in our society were honest and legislated laws that were reasonable and then adhered to those laws maybe then our children would be inspired to follow our wise examples.

Imagine that!

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
