An 18-year-old Ballina teenager died after the Toyota Corona he was driving and a semi-trailer collided on the Pacific Highway seven kilometres north of Ballina last Friday. His name was Bradley John Connors. Police said the 45-year-old truck driver was treated at Ballina Hospital for shock and minor injuries after the accident, which occurred on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Cumbalum Road. Two people were treated in Lismore Base Hospital for injuries after their 4WD plunged 150 metres down a heavily-forested cliff in the Border Ranges on Sunday afternoon. The 22-year-old female passenger managed to scramble up the cliff to get help, despite suffering a broken leg and spinal injuries. The 23-year-old driver suffered arm, chest and head injuries. Both were airlifted from the scene by the Rescue Helicopter.

A 19-year-old Lismore man was arrested and charged on Sunday over two home invasions at Goonellabah and Suffolk Park late last month in which several young people were bashed. The man was charged with two assaults one in Kadina Street, Goonellabah, and another in Bottlebrush Drive, Suffolk Park, as well as malicious damage of a motor vehicle and other offences. An 18-year-old Lismore man was also arrested in relation to the violent home invasion at Suffolk Park. He will appear in Lismore Local Court this week.

Police are investigating a fire in bushland near Lake Ainsworth, Lennox Head, last Wednesday afternoon, believed to have been deliberately lit. Local rural fire units contained the fire after several hours. Police said a witness saw a small car, possibly a hatch back, race south on the road past Camp Drew at the time of the fire. Thieves stole all four wheels off a 2002 Mitsubishi sedan last weekend which was parked at the intersection of Chickiba Drive and Links Avenue, Ballina. The vehicle was left sitting on bricks. Any information to Ballina Police on 6681 8699.

Police have charged a 51-year-old Jiggi woman with possession and supply of drugs after seizing almost 2kg of cannabis cookies, 89 foil-wrapped cannabis chocolates and 718 grams of cannabis leaf in a Nimbin store last Sunday.
