Disaster volunteers needed for Nimbin

While this area rarely experiences major disasters, if one did occur Nimbin would have a shortage of trained people to deal with victims, says the Red Cross.

Right across the region the Red Cross has been training Personal Support Teams so that in the event of a major disaster people are able to care for those affected. Participants will not only gain skills through the free training provided, but will also get a delicious morning tea and lunch for free.

Volunteers need to be 18 years or older and be good listeners, practical, and able to stay calm in emergencies.

The free training is being held in Nimbin on Thursday, November 23, at the Nimbin School of Arts in the heart of the village from 9.30am-3.30pm. To register or find out more phone Lyndall on 6622 3244.
