Clunes Preschool comes of age

On Saturday the Clunes Community Preschool celebrated its 21st birthday with past and present teachers and students getting together to gorge themselves on a whopping great birthday cake and share their memories.

Cutting the cake to kick off the celebrations were (l-r) current director Melinda Gambley, past directors Rebecca Carr and Tom Rehbach, teacher Skye Lawrence and students past and present.

The preschool was started in the church hall in Clunes because a lot of people in the village only had one car and wanted something close by. There was only one staff member at that stage and very little equipment, said Melinda. Now we have a purpose-built building and 40 families, but of course we are still struggling because we havent had an increase in funding in 17 years. The only reason we have survived is because we have an amazing community behind us.

Clunes Community Preschool is open to children aged three to five years. For more information phone Melinda on 6629 1551.
