Future league legends

Local primary school league stars (l-r) Jesse Field, Sean Laurie, Rhys Carruth and Sam Giltrap represented the North Coast side at the NSW Primary School Rugby League Championships recently, where the team finished seventh in what could only be called the group of death.

Of the 12 sides from NSW present at the Championship, the North Coast were chosen to play the eventual winners, Sydney East, third placed South Coast and the traditional Catholic powerhouse teams Polding and Sydney McKillop.

It was a difficult draw and the North Coast began the carnival with a 6-nil loss to South Coast, then beat Polding 8-nil before going down 24-4 to Sydney East. They continued their determined showing on day two, beating North West 16-nil and only surrendering a marginal 4-nil victory to Sydney Mckillop. They trounced Riverina 24-6 in the play off for seventh.
