Shaking up Shakespeare

See Shakespeares works done like youve never seen them done before his complete works in 90 minutes. Thats a lot of fun!

Local theatre company Sweet Whispers is presenting a zany spin through all of Shakespeares plays (in an hour and a half) at the Drill Hall in Mullumbimby this Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 4, and on November 10 and 11.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) will also run at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore on Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18.

The wit and quick-fire energy of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) will seduce both haters of Shakespeare and bard aficionados alike, said director Danielle Coleman. Titus Andronicus as a cuisine show host, Othello the rap artist and Romeo as a dreamy tai chi kid gives you a sample of the flavour and spin we put on this brilliantly funny reworking of his drama.

The Reduced Shakespeare, as it is often known, was an off-Broadway smash and ran for a decade in London, making it the West Ends longest-running comedy.

All shows start at 8pm.

Tickets for the Mullum run are $$20/15 and available from Santos in Byron and Mullumbimby. Tickets for the Lismore season are $25/20 and available from Caddies Coffee Shop in Lismore.

Freebie: The Echo has a double pass to give away to the Friday, November 17, show in Lismore. To go in the draw to win phone 6622 2888 between 10.15 & 10.30am next Monday, November 6, and tell us if Othello was a) a Jew, b) a ghost, or c) a Moor.
