Exit leaves students on a high

Graduating Southern Cross University visual arts student Trinity Leonard (pictured) was thrilled her series of paintings were chosen to launch Exit 06, the graduate end-of-year show, at a function last week. The pieces are the culmination of a years work.

A lot of the images are borrowed and inspired from film stills, she said. I tend to depict women in ambiguous situations where you get a vague sense of what is happening to them but you are not quite sure. I really like the mystery of David Lynch films and the suspenseful elements. And also the beauty from within the tension. Its a tease.

The Exit 06 visual arts exhibition opens this Friday, November 3, and features the work of more than 40 students. It will be open in the Next Art Gallery and visual arts building every day from 10am-5pm until November 12.
