Bass come flooding in for Classic

Angler Gary Byrne receives his prize for this years Bass Classic from Adrian Melchoir of Marineland Ballina.

The recent Bass Classic held around Lismore was testimony to the hard work being done by the Richmond Valley Sportfishing Club to restock the Richmond and Wilson rivers with native bass. Just over 600 bass were caught and all were released with the largest fish being 52cm and second largest 51cm. Two anglers at Toonumbar Dam pulled in a haul of 41 fish with another catch of over 40 from three anglers on the Wilson River. Altogether 53 prizes were awarded with the top prize being a Lowrance Colour Fish Finder valued at over $1000 courtesy of our main sponsor Lowrance. The Classic had over 50 sponsors and we must also mention the Lismore Palms Caravan Park, who as well as a generous donation made available their grounds on the banks of the Wilson River.
