Advanced triathlon squad

The North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) has identified four local triathletes to be part of their seven-strong advanced program squad this year. They are Alstonvilles Rachel Brown and Josh McHugh, The Channons Courtney Gilfillan and Lennox Heads Joseph Lampe.

Selection into the squad was based on achieving strong results in the national Under 23 or international Triathlon Union junior triathlons over the past 12 months, as well as meeting specific cut-off times for running and swimming set by Triathlon NSW.

The selection has capped off an excellent few months for Brown and Lampe, as both athletes also recently won the Brunswick Heads Triathlon.

The squads first eight-day, live-in camp starts this week at the NSW Sport and Recreation Centre at Lennox Head. It will provide these contenders with the opportunity to train alongside the NSW Institute of Sports top athletes.
