Basketballers await the selectors

Numerous local basketballers are waiting with baited breath after they tried out for a spot in the North Coast Academy of Sport basketball program in Coffs on Sunday.

The basketballers trying out were Ayden Alcorn, Ethan Butler, Jaquille Edwards, Rayne Ellis, Nicholas Johnson, Christopher McIllhatton, Charlton Wilson, Grace Amey, Emma Attewell, Courtney Bailey, Brittany Creary, Madeleine Euston, Courtney Hammond and Amy Louise Waddell. The trials are part of a resurgent basketball program, which has been shelved for the last eight years.

The local contenders were part of a 46 strong contingent trying out for a spot in the academy program. Selection in the 20-member squad will be finalised early next week.
