Drawing songlines

Byron singer and songwriter Gyan has released an album of songs inspired by the works of artist Michael Leunig. She will perform and Michael will draw at a special gig in Byron.

Billy the Rabbit is a musical interpretation of Michael Leunigs poetry by local singer and musician Gyan (with some help from her friends). The albums 18 somewhat Beatle-esque folk/pop songs are accompanied by a 48-page book of Leunigs words and drawings.

To celebrate the albums release Gyan and Leunig will be holding a live performance at the Byron Community Centre on Saturday, October 28.

Leunig will draw live whilst Gyan performs with her band.

Tickets are $35 and available from the venue (6685 5659).

The gig starts at 8pm.
